🎄 Puff Pastry Mini Christmas Trees
A Fun, Easy & Irresistible Holiday Appetizer
These puff pastry Christmas trees are flaky, cheesy, buttery, and ready in minutes. They look impressive but are incredibly simple to make — perfect for parties, family gatherings, or festive snacking!
🧾 Ingredients
For 12–16 mini trees:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- ½ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or parmesan)
- 2 tbsp pesto or pizza sauce (optional for flavor)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional for decoration)
- Small wooden skewers or toothpicks
🍴 Instructions
1. Prepare the Puff Pastry
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry into a flat rectangle.
2. Add the Filling
You can choose between a cheesy version or a pesto version:
Cheese version:
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the pastry.
Pesto/pizza version:
- Spread a thin layer of pesto or pizza sauce, then sprinkle cheese on top.
Avoid adding too much topping so the pastry stays crisp.
3. Cut Into Strips
- Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into long strips about 1.5–2 cm wide.
4. Shape the Christmas Trees
- Take one strip and fold it back and forth (zig-zag style), forming a small tree shape.
- Insert a skewer or toothpick through the center to hold the shape.
- Place each tree on the parchment-lined tray.
5. Brush and Decorate
- Beat the egg and brush lightly over the tops to create a golden finish.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds for decoration.
6. Bake
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden, puffed, and crispy.
7. Serve Warm
They’re best served right out of the oven, but still delicious at room temperature.
