This natural drink combines the warming spice of ginger, the earthy aroma of bay leaves, the tang of lemon, and the vibrant tartness of hibiscus leaves. Together, they create a soothing, refreshing beverage you can enjoy hot or cold.


đź›’ Ingredients (Makes 4 cups)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, sliced (or 1 teaspoon dried ginger)
  • 3–4 fresh bay leaves (or 2 dried)
  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus leaves (or hibiscus tea)
  • 1 lemon (juice + slices for serving)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or natural sweetener (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Boil the Base
    • In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
    • Add the ginger slices and bay leaves. Reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
  2. Add Hibiscus
    • Turn off the heat and add the hibiscus leaves.
    • Let steep for 5 minutes (the longer you steep, the stronger and more tangy the flavor).
  3. Strain and Flavor
    • Strain the mixture into a jug or teapot.
    • Stir in freshly squeezed lemon juice.
    • Taste and sweeten with honey if desired.
  4. Serve
    • Enjoy warm for a soothing tea.
    • Or chill in the refrigerator and serve over ice with lemon slices for a refreshing iced drink.
