- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, sliced (or 1 teaspoon dried ginger)
- 3–4 fresh bay leaves (or 2 dried)
- 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus leaves (or hibiscus tea)
- 1 lemon (juice + slices for serving)
- 4 cups water
- 1–2 teaspoons honey or natural sweetener (optional)

- Boil the Base
- In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the ginger slices and bay leaves. Reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
- Add Hibiscus
- Turn off the heat and add the hibiscus leaves.
- Let steep for 5 minutes (the longer you steep, the stronger and more tangy the flavor).
- Strain and Flavor
- Strain the mixture into a jug or teapot.
- Stir in freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Taste and sweeten with honey if desired.
