- Ideal Alkalinity Range: 80 to 120 PPM
Fix your alkalinity first. Once it’s in the proper range, adjusting your pH, chlorine, and shock levels will be much easier and more effective.
Step 2: Add Baking Soda
If your alkalinity is low or not registering at all, it’s time to add baking soda (yes, the kind from your kitchen!).
- Slowly sprinkle 1/3 of a bag of baking soda around the pool’s edge, just like you would with granular shock.
- Keep your jets running and let it circulate for about an hour.
- Test again before adding more if needed.
